The Gathering

Securing victory in 2020 is the political cause of our time, and the 2018 elections offered us the blueprint for how to do it. Americans voted for Democrats who promised a more prosperous future for all communities by focusing on the kitchen table issues that matter most: good jobs that are too scarce, health care costs that are too high, and a future that is far too uncertain.

The transformations wrought by technology and globalization have resulted in a severe concentration of opportunity. Far too many people—residents of urban and rural areas, workers at all skill levels, women and especially people of color—are wondering how they or their kids will be able to earn a good life.

The next Democratic nominee for President must heed these lessons and articulate an economic message that resonates with a broad coalition. They must offer voters a compelling vision that ensures the opportunity to earn a good life for everyone, everywhere.

Opportunity 2020 will gather influential Democrats from across the country for an invite-only strategy session on “The Way to Win.”
